Sakura had tried so hard to fit in with the popular crowd and now she has. But this crowd rejects the sort of eprson she is inside. Sakura loves to read and do school work, so time that she has to spare she spends at the lake reading and such. They also look down upon people who do anything but cheerlead or play football since those are the 'popular' sports. Sakura enjoys swimming both recreationally and sometimes cmpetitively. Today she has come to the lake to do some reading since her friends went off somewhere like a double date or something of the sort. The subject of guys around them was hard to get around since they talked about them often. And if they knew she had never dated anyone, she would immediately be looked down upon.
Sakura found her way to the lake where she loved to spend time to herself. She sat down with her back resting up against the trunk of a tree looking across the lake. Only an hour or so of reading and then swimming she thought, happy that she got time to do this. It was amazing to her to be in the 'in' crowd, but also very tough. She could never be anything but a follower and thats why she can't make them see her secrets. They wouldn't allow her to be their follower. If only they knew, she would realize what type of 'friends' she was actually hanging with. This made her think of Naurto and Sasuke. She wondered what they were doing now.

It was after the first day of school, and Naruto was wiped already. His parents had forced him to finish his homework, which had been heavy even on the first day. And when he was done, he grabbed his electric guitar and went out to the lake that was near the house. He gently strummed a few chords as he sat in the warm autumn sun, the lake lapping gently at the shoreline in a steady rhythm. As the minutes ticked by, Naruto turned his gaze from his guitar to the other side of the lake, where he was suprised by the sight of none other than Sakura Haruno.
He blinked in suprise and stopped his strumming as he watched her sit by the opposite shore and read. Reading was something that preps didn't do and his brow furrowed in confusion. He hadn't seen Sakura read since she was very little and not a cheerleader. Those were the good old times, and Naruto missed them, he and Sakura had actually been friends back then. But now, she seemed to hate him and it broke his heart. Naruto had had a huge crush on her as long as he could remember, but she would never return these feelings, he knew that for a fact. Though he didn't notice it, he was staring at her blindly, it was a bit imbarrasing really.

You know the feeling when you can sense someone staring at you? Sakura felt this exact feeling and set down her book and glanced around the lake. It wasn't until she locked eyes with Naruto Uzumaki that she knew it was him. It had been quite awhile since she had actually talked to him. Thinking back, they were pretty good friends until she found the popular group, as was she with Sasuke. She sighed and stood up and walked to Naruto and sat next to him. All the while, neither of them spoke.
"It's been awhile Naruto." she smiled. If anyone saw Sakura hanging out with Naruto, she would be shot out of the popular group in a second. Everyone considered him annoying still, even though he had grown up a little bit, but he was still Naruto. It seemed strange that on a day where she had left behind the popular group, her old life shot her in the face. This time, it was harder to bare. Sakura has always had feelings for Naruto no matter how hard she tried not to show it and so obssessed over the good looking Sasuke. She had always pushed away the thought anytime it came up so that she wouldn't go in that direction. She has always wanted to be popular and know she was. Any time spent with Naruto most likely lessens her chances of remaining there. But today, she knew her friends were away. If you could even call them friends.

When Sakrura looked up, Naruto's bright blue eyes widened in fear of being found out. He shook his head and dropped his gaze immediately back to his guitar. Just relax. He told himself, he was so absorbed in himself and calming himself down that he didn't even hear the girl approach him. His breathing had quickened and his body began to react to his nervousness by freaking out. As she got closer and closer, Naruto worked to calm himself, and even when he noticed her presense beside him.
But as she spoke, his eyes widened, she hadn't rambled off some cruel insult or scoffed him off like she usually did. His gaze slowly came up to meet hers and he blinked several times. Was this some practical joke? His brow furrowed in worry, and he spoke himself. "A-are you okay? You're acting really weird." He had steadied his voice considerably well for the state of shock that he was feeling. He kept his face calm and his voice had a tone of wonderment in it, but it was defensive, he didn't want to be poked fun at. "You aren't being a clone of Ino." There was a bit of bitterness in his voice as he spoke again, he hadn't wanted to hurt her, but it had blurted out.
It was true, Naruto despised Ino, but he far from hated Sakura. This sudden change of personality and actions scared him and he was merely defending himself. He picked up his guitar and place it securely beside him and looked over to Sakura again, she hadn't left, she had something to say. Naruto sighed and decided to give her a chance. "Sorry." He paused, "but can you really blame me?" With an inaudable sigh of change, Naruto gave Sakura a small smile, his voice reassuring and kind now, "Was there something you wanted?"

As Naruto spoke, her eyes narrowed, remembering just how annoying he was. Shouldn't he be happy that she was talking to him? She used everything not to punch him in the face. But of course, that wouldn't be 'lady like' or 'cheerleader like'. But her reaction to this was standing up and staring across the lake. "I don't blame you, but it's the path I chose." she looked almost sad as she looked into Naurto's deep blue eyes once again.
Talking to Naruto she knew would be tough on her and that's why she never did talk to him. A time like this was perfect. As he asked her if there was something that she wanted, Sakura shrugged. "Not really. I just...." she trailed off. Could she realy finish this sentence? There was a huge part of her telling her to finish it. But if anyone found out about this conversation, she would be as good as trash to the popular group. Letting out air and then taking some in, she tried again. "I just missed...." it was still harder than ever to finish. "I just missed talking to you." she finally finished, glancing across the lake to the trees behind it.

Naruto blinked in surprise as she tried her best not to be a bitch and to just talk to Naruto like a real person. When she stood, his gaze followed her and he listened closely as she spoke. He quietly urged her to finish the sentence, he wanted to find out why she was here. Here talking to him. It both shocked and bewildered him as she finished, how could she miss him when she was so popular? When he had contemplated this for a moment, he pushed himself to stand and continued to look at Sakura.
With a sigh, he tried to think of something to say, but no words came to mind. He didn't want her to think he was ignoring her bold statement and in a way rejecting it. No, Naruto was pleasantly surprised by her forced sentence. When he opened his mouth, he felt a sudden rush crash over him and he knew exactly what to say. "I missed you too. I never thought I would be talking like you to this again." He grinned, trying to make light of the situation, he really did miss her and he wanted to be her friend again. But like that would ever happen. Naruto could try couldn't he?

It sort of surprised Sakura that Naruto missed her after she had been a complete bitch to him these last few years and pushed him aside. Maybe he still cared about her no matter what she had become. It was still quite strange though. Sakura smiled for a second at Naruto and then turned again. Only midday and Sakura felt her energy shortly slipping away, but she knew what brought her energy up. Looking from the lake, to Naruto she formed a playful smile. "Want to swim?" she asked. She didn't expect him to want to swim, but she needed to. It made her gain energy for some reason. And asking Naruto to join her was just something she had wanted to do for awhile. Truthfully she did miss him deeply, but she was sure they could never be friends again. They had both gone different ways and Sakura had become a bitch to him. He would never reconsider and become friends.
Sakura had not brought her bathing suit, but what did that matter? She removed her pink tanktop and it revealed a black laced bra. To Naruto, it probably seemed like something a girl in a lingerie magazine would wear. Sakura smiled and waited for his answer before she would remove her short jean shorts. All the while, she never even noticed his guitar and now, she saw it. It looked amazing and Naruto was playing it. Guitarists and drummers were her weaknesses, but she just kept to thinking about swimming. It was a pretty hot day since it was still summer weather.

Naruto shrugged and nodded, he didn't mind going swimming, but he didn't have his swimming suit... Right as he was linking it, Sakura solved it. His eyes widened in complete shock as she started undressing in front of him and not in a million years would Naruto think he would be in this situtation. He nodded, obviously nervous and extremely shocked. Naruto reached over and pulled off his t-shirt from over his head and let it fall to the ground beside his guitar. But he still found himself looking over Sakura, of coarse dumb-founded as any other guy in his situation would be.
Shaking his head, he blushed slightly as he realized what he was doing and continued to undress. He reached down and unbuttoned his jeans and let them fall to the ground as he looked back to her. It was an awkward looking situation, but Naruto didn't mind, he was rather enjoying himself. He walked to the lake and only stopped when it was about up to his waist, then he jumped into the icy waters. The water washed over him and chilled his entire body as well as cooling him on the hot summer day. When he surfaced, he ran a hand through his hair and shook it so water was splattered around him. His eyes trailed up to Sakura, "You coming?" He grinned again and continued to splash around, the cold water was so refreshing against the hot summer weather. And he wouldn't rather be withanyone else.

Sakura smiled and laughed as Naruto got into the water and asked her if she would join. As he glanced at her, she removed her shorts revealing a cute black thong. Running over to the lake, she went to a part she knew was deep and dove in. The water closed over her body and cooled her skin of the warmth of the day. She swam under the water to Naruto and pulled his leg and himself under the water. Returning to the surface, she laughed and swam around on her back.
Today was the most fun she has had since she was akid with good friends. It made her think of when they were young and used to have fun and how much Naruto was annoying. He wasn't really annoying much anymore. She wondered what he thought of her. Sakura had lost a bunch of weight over the years to form a skinny body and she had matured in more ways than one. She figured that Naruto must have saw this, unless he truely was dumb. She smirked and just looked at Naruto, remembering the past and thinking of the present and their separate lives.

This was definately a different Sakura than Naruto had learned to live with over the recent years. But he liked how she could truely be herself with him, it made him feel important and wanted. But it killed him inside to watch her act like a bitch with the group she called her friends. He just wanted to force that part of her away and have it never return, then they could be happy, but of coarse life and high school never worked like that. But he realised he had to savor this time they shared because it could not happen again for a long time.
Even though she was just another preppy clone at school, Naruto thought no less of Sakura than he did the day they met. Only better of her since then. A friendship had sprouted between the two and it would take more than that to uproot it all together in Naruto's opinion. He swam happily around as he thought of this and was delighted to see Sakura having as much fun as he was. He splashed gently at her and chuckled as it hit her in the face. "So, are you glad you saw me today?" Naruto wanted to know if she thought this time was worth it, Naruto hoped she would, because he hadn't had this much fun in a long time.

They swam around for a bit, playing quietly until Naruto broke into a conversation. She truthfully was having a blast, but if anyone knew about this meeting, her school life would be horrible. Sakura smiled. "Yeah Naruto. I am glad we saw each other today." she laughed as she thought of something in her head. "I'm glad I caught you staring at me." she said and splashed him and swam under water to across the lake. Sakura was surprisingly an amazing swimmer. She practiced often away from everyone, especially Ino.
She came up to catch her breath and smiled at Naruto. She wished high school didn't have to be so rough and that the life she wanted could be combined into one. She has always wanted to be popular and now that she is, the other part of her life that she wished she could keep had to be flushed away. It was devestating to her no matter how much people thought she didn't care. It hurt her to go away from Naruto and Sasuke, but she never let anyone know. Looking into his deep blue eyes made her feel the emotions of the past. She began to crave it. Maybe they could meet often, but secretly. No. Naruto would never do that. Sakura floated on top of the water, waiting for Naruto to catch up.

Naruto's expression changed from happy-go-lucky, to completely shocked. His eyes were wide, and he felt a faint blush come to his cheeks as she spoke again. He grinned and tried to diminish the blush, but trying only made his deepen in color. "Well, I guess I'm glad I was staring." His voice was gentle and caring as he spoke to her and as he did so, his face settled into a soft smile. With a gentle motion, Naruto splashed Sakura gently before she swam off across the lake.
With a fresh smirk plastered on his features, he dove beneath the water and pursued after her under the water. He swam quickly to wards the top of the water and broke the surface, showering droplets of water all around him. He had appeared a few feet from Sakura, his smirk still evident on his features. With a chuckle he attempted to swim after her, "Let's play a game." His grin had consumed his features, and a playful smirk sparkled in her eyes. "I bet I can catch you, but I'll give you a five second head start. Ready? Go!" He counted in his head for five seconds then sped off after Sakura, hopefully this would be fun.

Sakura smirked as Naruto named a game they could play. She laughed to herself when he challenged her in swimming of all things. Of course, Naruto had no idea how fast a swimmer she was. No one knew. Sakura didn't need a five second head start but what he didn't know wouldn't hurt him. Sakura dashed off at incredible speed. She had raised her endurance rapidly in the last year and had become a speed demon. She was almost to the other side of the lake when Naruto was still swimming towards her in the middle.
It was amazing how much fun her day had been. She wasn't stressed out or trying to fit in. Sakura was just being Sakura. It felt nice to be able to be herself around Naruto. That could be what makes her somewhat attracted to him. Not that she would ever express those feelings. Ever. Sakura took a break towards the shore and noticed how far back Naruto was and began to laugh. She decided that this should end the game and made her way out of the water. Walking out, her thong revealed her cute butt checks as she walked towards her things. She had totally forgotten this concept and there was no doubt that Naruto noticed.

Naruto saw her speed ad his eyes widened, the head start he gave her wasn't a very good idea. But with a push of speed he had it to the opposite bank as she was climbing out. A smirk played onto his features as an idea sprouted in his mind. He lept from the water and took a flying jump toward Sakura. But of coarse, he wouldn't do a thing as tackle her. Naruto grabbed onto her and they fell onto the grassy bank, but he was underneath her, as to shield her from getting hurt. He grinned up at her, "I got you."
It took Naruto a few seconds to realize how close they really were to each other. She was laying on top of him and they were both merely in their undergarments, not a good position to be caught in. His face fell to a shocked expression and his eyes widened as he considered all this in his head. But somehow he couldn't seem to move, he tried, but he just wouldn't. A blush rose onto his cheeks as he stared up at Sakura, his expression still as shocked as ever.

As they tumbled, Sakura laughed. It really was a lot of fun horsing around with Naruto. And as they completed tumbling, Sakura was positioned a top Naruto. She blushed slightly and without thinking, she leaned in towards his face. These feeling enveloped her at once and all sprung out. Her lips pressed against his as she kissed Naruto. This was something never supposed to happen between them since she knew that Naruto was supposed to be Ino's property, which she found never wrecking. Sakura and Naruto had been more close than Ino and Naruto would ever become.
As she backed away, her face turned bright red and she stood up and began to walk over to gather her clothes. There was no way in hell she could talk to him now or hang out with him. She knew now that they could never see each other again. It would tempt her too much and crave something she knew she could never have. These feelings were so suddenly brought upon her and now she shoved them from her completely. They could have been just friends and secretly hung out together, but Sakura ruined it and now she would pay the consequences. She would returned to her boring cheerleading life with the popular group and be stressed out every five minutes. Sakura felt extremely dumb at this point.
